AND PROTECT AGAINST HIGHER REAL ESTATE TAXES
Attend the upcoming Oak Park River Forest High School Board meeting on Thursday, November 16 at 7:15 PM at the OPRF High School (201 North Scoville) and urge them to SAY NO to the proposed $45 million Park District fitness facility.
The cost burden of the proposed facility, annual operating shortfalls, and annual capital improvements would be distributed across 100% of all residents in the form of higher real estate taxes.
SAY NO TO THE OAK PARK RIVER FOREST PROPOSED $45 MILLION PARK DISTRICT FITNESS FACILITY
WHY? COUNT THE COST:
- Funding for this unnecessary tax-exempt facility would come from the OPRF High School reserve fund (coming in large part from taxpayer dollars)
- Oak Park and River Forest already have many exercise and recreation options provided by local health clubs and studios that pay hundreds of thousands of dollars annually in real estate taxes to the high school!
- A significant percentage of park district fitness facilities do not operate in positive cash flow – and taxpayers end up bearing the ongoing costs.
- The cost burden is distributed across 100% of all residents in the form of higher real estate taxes. If approved, all residents will be paying for a facility for many years whether you ever step foot inside it or not!
